The Salimo Abdula Foundation has the honour of supporting the Cardiology Service of Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) in the introduction of transesophageal echocardiography, an essential technique for the accurate diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.
On July 1, 2025, the HCM successfully performed the first transesophageal echocardiography tests in outpatients, a significant milestone in strengthening the institution's diagnostic capacity and improving the care provided to users.
This advance became possible thanks, in part, to the support of the Foundation, which enabled the specialized training of a Mozambican nurse at Hospital Santos Silva in Gaia – Portugal. For two weeks, the professional deepened the knowledge and practices of nursing care during the transesophageal examination, a crucial step to ensure the safety and efficacy of the procedure.
Back in Mozambique, the nurse now plays a strategic role: empowering her colleagues in the HCM, ensuring the dissemination of knowledge and the sustainability of this innovation in the service.
The Salimo Abdula Foundation is proud to contribute to the strengthening of the Mozambican health system, focusing on training professionals and transferring technical knowledge of excellence.
Together, we continue to transform lives.
