The Salimo Abdula Foundation (FSA), in the framework of its commitment to promoting human development and social inclusion, recently held a reflection and knowledge-sharing meeting in Maputo for young Mozambican women included in the celebrations of Mozambican Women's Day, marked on 7 April.
The initiative was conceived as an area of intergenerational dialogue, focusing on the exchange of ideas and the active participation of young people. The meeting brought together women of reference in different areas, promoting an open and reflective conversation about the role of African women in the culture, knowledge and construction of the future.
On this occasion, the President of the Salimo Abdula Foundation, Paulo Oliveira, highlighted the importance of initiatives that stimulate critical thinking and female empowerment. " We believe that knowledge is one of the most powerful instruments of social transformation. By creating spaces for dialogue between generations, we are investing in a more conscious, more prepared and capable of leading the future with responsibility and purpose."
Writer Paulina Chiziane, one of the most influential voices in Mozambican and African literature, defends the urgent need for the rescue of historical figures and the appreciation of narratives.
" For a long time, women's stories were silenced. To recover them is to restore to young people the awareness of their legacy and their power to transform the present and the future." Chiziane said.
On the other hand, businesswoman Alima Hussein has conducted a practical and inspiring approach to knowledge, autonomy and opportunities for the new generation of women, highlighting the contemporary challenges and the role of education as a driver of emancipation: "The future is built with informed choices. When a young woman has access to knowledge, she gains not only autonomy, but the ability to redefine her own destiny."
With this initiative, the FSA reaffirms its commitment to the creation of inclusive learning and sharing spaces, promoting the development of a more equitable, conscious and future-oriented society.
The event, which brought together women from various age groups and different areas of activity, was organized by the Salimo Abdula Foundation, in partnership with Nedbank, Techsolutions and the studio of Sebastião Coana.
