On 19 July, the President of the Salimo Abdula Foundation, Paulo Oliveira, made a special visit to Santos Silva Hospital in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, to closely monitor the formation of Mozambican nurse Joice Chilundo.
The health professional, who is part of the team of the Central Hospital of Maputo, participated in an intensive echocardiography training program, with the support of the Foundation. For two weeks, Joice deepens his knowledge in this essential diagnostic exam, with emphasis on nursing care in transesophageal echocardiography a procedure of high precision and technical requirement.
This training represents an important step in the appreciation and qualification of professionals Mozambicans in the health area, with direct impact on improving the quality of services provided in Mozambique. The experience gained will be fundamental for the future implementation and dissemination of transesophageal echocardiography at the Maputo Central Hospital.
