Support for Iftar in Mocímboa da Praia: Solidarity in Adversity Times

On March 5, 2025, the Salimo Abdula Foundation (FSA) promptly met a request from the social sector of the Municipal Council of the Villa of Mocímboa da Praia, in the province of Cabo Delgado, in order to support the implementation of the iftar — the fast break meal during the sacred month of Ramadan.

This solidarity gesture was motivated by the delicate context that still marks the region. Due to the instability caused by the insurgency, many inhabitants of Mocímboa da Praia remain displaced or live in extremely difficult conditions, without full access to basic services or the safety of their homes of origin.

With the support of the FSA, it was possible to guarantee a dignified meal for 150 people, divided between two strategic points of the village: the Rural Hospital and the Central Mosque. More than providing food, the initiative sought to offer comfort, dignity and a moment of unity in a sacred period for many of the beneficiaries.

During interactions with members of the community, the resilience and hope of a population that, despite so many challenges, continues to fight for a better life became evident.

This support reflects the commitment of the Salimo Abdula Foundation to act on the most sensitive social fronts, responding quickly to emergency situations and reaffirming its role in strengthening the most vulnerable communities in Mozambique.

FSA — For a more supportive, just and resilient Mozambique.
