At the Salimo Abdula Foundation, we believe that investing in the health and welfare of young people is investing in Mozambique's future. This is why, in partnership with the University Foundation for the Development of Education (FUNDE), we launched the ABORDAR project, an initiative aimed at promoting sexual and reproductive health among adolescents, with special attention to menstrual hygiene, pregnancy prevention and sexually transmitted infections.

 

With ABORDAR we intend to benefit 5,400 adolescents, between 12 and 17 years old, in the municipalities of Boane and Matola Rio, Maputo province. Through workshops, teacher training and community leaders, and in partnership with youth organizations, we will bring information and support to secondary schools and communities, positively impacting the lives of 3,780 girls and 1,620 boys.

 

Our actions include: workshops to increase knowledge about sexual and reproductive health; training of community teachers and adults to better support adolescents; partnerships with youth organizations to expand the scope of the project beyond schools.

 

Our vision is to create an educational model that promotes sustainable behavior changes, reaching 19,200 adolescents in Maputo and Zambézia provinces. Together we can build a future where all young people have access to the information and support they need to make informed decisions about their health.
